Walks from Our House

The following walks are all immediately accessible from Rosemount, once you arrive at our house there really is no need to drive any further if you don’t want to.

• Sheriffs Walk
  Over the road from Rosemount a footpath through Sheriffs Walk is a great alternative way down to the Lake Windermere, just 20 minuates walk from our house.
• Cockshott Point
  Walk down Bowness-on-Windermere and follow The Glebe Road round to Cockshott point.  This land was saved from private development by Beatrix Potter and is a lovely circular walk of less than a mile along the lake shore.  Well pathed it’s perfect for people who want to be surefooted or pushchair users.
• Millerground
  Walk down through Sheriffs Walk and then turn right to Millerground for the most amazing, uninterrupted views across the lake to the Langdale Pikes.  A lot quieter than Bowness, you’ll feel like you have your own slice of the lake!
• Orrest Head
  A favourite viewing point, walk from Rosemount up to Windermere town and then a short, sharp uphill walk to Orrest Head.  The viewing point and benches on the top are perfect for enjoying a flask of hot coffee or a pastie bought from the bakery en route!
• Biskey Howe
  Another classic viewing point, walk down the hill to the top of Bowness (less than a mile) and turn up Helm Road and up a short incline to Biskey Howe.  A marker points out the names of the popular fells that can be seen and a short stroll back down the hill, The Angel pub is a perfect place to stop for lunch or a coffee on the way back.
• Post Knott
  This can be combined with Biskey Howe, turn right just before Biskey Howe and follow the signs for Post Knott. A short uphill walk takes you to the most beautiful views up and down the length of Windermere – you can see exactly why it is the longest lake in the UK!
