If you’re looking for adventure then look no further, from Abseiling to Aquaseiling or Ghyll scrambling to Go Ape, the Lake District has it all, and the majority of activities are just a short drive away from Rosemount.

For a list of all other activities e.g golf, horse riding, fishing, hot air balloons see local attractions (click through)

Here are some of our popular recommendations, but if there’s something else you fancy giving a go then contact us and we’ll be happy to find the best local place for you to try it.

Mountain Biking

Whether you're bringing your own or hiring bikes in Windermere town (just 10 minutes walk up the road) there are some great routes for you to follow. Whether it's a more leisurely ride along the western shore of the lake or a more challenging routew such as Staveley to Longsleddale - 16 miles, with a moorland crossing and three thrilling descents - then drop us a line we have loads of information and are happy to recommend places for you.

Go Ape

Go Ape is an award winning high wire forest adventure in Grizedale forest.  From Rosemount either take the car ferry across the lake or head up round the top of the lake through Amble side & Hawksead, either way the journey will take approx 30 minutes.  Climb the trees, slide across high wires, crawl through tunnels, cross rope bridges and zip down to the ground!

Via Ferrata

At Honister Slate Mine high up in the Borrowdale valley the Via Ferrata lets you experience the mountains in a novel way.  It’s about an hours drive from Rosemount, but through some of the most spectacular scenery, so the journey itself is as much part of the aventure. Meaning “iron road” in Italian, Via Ferrata allows walkers to traverse steep terrain safely.  Secured to a fixed cable, you follow a Victorian miners route along the craggy face of Fleet with Pike, to the 648m summit where you will see the most amazing views of Buttermere, Crummock Water and Skiddaw mountain range.

What is….?

Aquaseiling - abseiling down a fast flowing warefall - sheer adrenalin!Ghyll scambling - slide, jump and slither your way along a stream - tackling all obstacles.
